A So Not Right Gingerbread House.

Last year, a few of us got together and attempted to make some simple, standard gingerbread houses. The results were less than stellar but the activity and socialization were fun so we decided to try again this year. Rather than make a bunch of smaller houses we decided to do a joint project and make a big old McMansion Gingerbread house. Rebecca and I baked gingerbread all day long and kept two kitchen aid mixers going for most of the afternoon. As you can see, the results were pretty amazing. It has the theme, "The Magic of the Season". I told Wayne I wanted it to look like a department store window display and I think we accomplished that goal. My sister and The Price is Right

Well my sister finally did it!!!! She went to the Price is Right yesterday and was the second person called down to contestants row! It took her three bids to get up on stage, and according to her, she jumped all over Drew Carry.
She was a little hysterical when I talked to her so I am not certain exactly what game she played but she won it! She went to the big wheel and did not progress from that point.
She won two Iphones (that is what she bid on to get on stage and made a perfect bid $798, so she won an additional $500 for that). In her game she won a wine cabinet, set of golf clubs, another $500 and an outdoor kitchen grill. I have attached the picture of the grill. Total was right at $9000. Needless to say she is in absolute shock and thrilled that she finally got up there and won. The episode will air on December 11, 2007.

Madrid, Oh Madrid

I am writing this at 1:30 in the morning, very tired but also energized after a whirlwind couple of days celebrating Euro Pride in Madrid. First lets start our group getting together yesterday evening at 10pm for dinner. Nothing starts early here, dinner at 10pm is not unusual. On our way to dinner we spend time pushing through the crowds that have filled the areas of Madrid set aside for the Pride celebrations. It was nothing but wall to wall people. A very So Not Right thing happened, my blackberry was lifted from my pocket. I realized it as I made my way out of the crowd. Thankfully I was not carrying my wallet, or I am sure that would have disappeared. No big deal, just a stupid phone, but lots of phone numbers that were only stored there on the phone...I know backup backup backup the data. If you are reading this and I got your contact information in the last month or so, I probably now no longer have that information, please email me you information so I can stay in contact. After the cell phone disappeared we went on to dinner and then met up with our hosts friends, we enjoyed the crowds a bit more and then headed to a club and broke in line and went dancing until 7am....yeah, that will tire you out. I slept in a bit then got to tour the town with our friend Jorge, he lives here in Madrid. After the tour it was time for the parade. Oh my goodness what a parade it was, over 2 million specatators. In the picture with this post you will see the enormity of the crowd in just one small area of the parade route. Now what you may not realize is that where all of those people are standing is the MAIN road that goes through Madrid, the Gran Via. It is completely shut down for this event. There were so many people and so many amazing things to say. I will post a bunch of pictures in the next week. Now it is late and there is another party to go to...I think I am going to pass on this party, I need some rest, apparently there are several more parties going on Sunday afternoon....just So Not Right.

We made it, the final leg of our trip. We got into Madrid last night and we are ready to celebrate Euro Pride this weekend. It is already a mad house here in Madrid. We are staying just two blocks from the main area of town where the celebration will be taking place. There are already so many people in town and that the streets in the area are already blocked off for pedestrian traffic. The best way to describe the area is think of the French Quarter in New Orleans on steriods. And imagine it packed with more people than Mardi Gras. It is going to be a wild time here. Mykonos

Mykonos is beautiful, just plain beautiful. There is no way to truly describe it. We have not taken many pictures because quite frankly we are too busy laying on the beach doing nothing. Last night we had a blast in the little village. The people here do not start their evening until late, like midnight, or 1am and then they party till morning and go and sleep on the beach all day...what a life. Well I am off to the beach now...gotta get some rest.

Athens

Well the time in Athens ends today, off to the Island of Mykonos this afternoon. Athens is an interesting city. Of course there is all the history here, the Greek ruins, etc. One of our cab drivers, Nick, asked if we had walked around the city and looked at all the piles of rocks they have here. (I think he was a little drunk as he drove us through the city).
The ruins are amazing and there are so many archaeological sites around the city. We have had some unusually hot weather but I just keep drinking tons of water.

The Trip continues: Berlin Chapter 2

Did I say in a previous post how much I really liked Berlin? Well it really is a wonderful city and one I would highly recommend to anyone for a visit. We did a most wonderful bike tour through the city. It was a free tour, free use of the bike, just tip the tour guide. Mike was our tour guide, an American who has lived in Berlin for the last two years. He took us by bike to the Museum Island, to the university where the Nazi book burning took place, and all over central Berlin.
On our last night in town we decided to really have a good time at the pubs. We started at our hotel bar and were served very strong drinks by our now good friend Sebastian. He is 26 and told us stories of being a 7 year old boy at the time the Berlin wall came down. His parents took him to the wall and hoisted him up and he hit the top of the wall with a hammer. He had no idea what was really going on and what an important piece of history was taking place. If all works out on this post you will see a picture of Sebastian with this entry. We went on to some bars after drinking a few at the hotel and lets just say it was a good thing I was not driving after all was said and done. Apparently I had no problem talking with everyone at the bars. The flight the next day to Athens was a bit difficult after such a fun night out on the town...I definitely felt So Not Right. Next post: Athens.

Berlin

Well we made it out of Geneva without causing any international incidents. That is saying alot for this group. I am amazed at Berlin. The history of the city makes you pause as you walk through some of the areas hardest hit by the war. It is not uncommon to come across areas that still show the damage and bullet holes from fighting.
I will upload all of my photos once I get back home and have a chance to perfect them. Until then I will put a few with each post.

Geneva, Switzerland, The First Day

Wow,

Geneva is a beautiful city. Lots of beautiful buildings. We spent a good part of our day sitting at a cafe by the Rhone River, having a beer and a little food. People watching here is fantastic. Geneva is a melting pot of different nationalities. You never know what language you are going to hear next. We walked the city and found that it is a sleeply little city. All of the stores close by 6pm on Saturday evening. Night life is difficult to find in this city as well. We opted instead for a late night Italian dinner right next to the Rhone River. It was fantastic. Coming soon: a picture of the four So Not Right travelers in front of the River. (We have renamed ourselves, Inga, Swiss Miss, Hoist, and LeTom Tom, you will have to figure out which is which)

Europe!!!

Well I finally made it to Geneva Switzerland. Just got here today. This is the beginning of a two and a half week trip through Europe. I will post photos here on the blog as time permits. After Geneva we head to Berlin, then Athens and Mykonos, then to Madrid Spain. I am going to need a nap after all of these travels. I can't wait to share the So Not Right stories of my trip.

Easter Update

Easter has come and gone for 2007. We had a blast as usual at the annual even in Dallas called "Easter in the Park". This year the weather turned bitter cold on us. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra decided to take their part of the event inside to another venue. However, The Turtle Creek Association continued their part and had the annual puppy parade and helped raise money for the SPCA of Texas.
Our group had a theme of Disco Bunny this year. Shiny Disco Balls were everywhere. Special thanks to Dan and Rufino for making the t-shirts and most of the decorations for us this year. Also special thanks to them for hauling all the stuff back to my house since I apparently had one too many spiked Easter eggs that day.

I received another photo from my buddy Austin who was a big winner on the Price is Right last year. He recently received his huge stainless custom made refrigerator compliments of the game show. He sent me a picture of it and I thought I should share it with you all.

I will be going back to the Price is Right for one more try at being a contestant while Bob Barker is still in control of the stage. The taping I am going to will be in March. I am so ready for a So Not Right Christmas. Thanksgiving was wonderful and I had an excellent visit with my family down in Beaumont. While in Beaumont, I had the opportunity to help my father put up his outdoor Christmas decorations. One of the decorations is a big inflatable Frosty the Snowman seen in the picture above. Frosty needed some new lights inside of him this year and I did the delicate surgery to change the lights. My father took the SO NOT RIGHT photo below.

We had a blast at the annual street party for Halloween here in Dallas. We dressed up in So Not Right costumes and had a blast. Dallas Pride Parade

Dallas just had its annual Pride Parade. Now while most of the world has their pride parades in June or July, Dallas has it's parade in September, since it is suppose to be a bit cooler in September than in June around here. In the past few years that has not always worked out. We can easily have 100 degree days during September. Well this year we got a break from the heat and a break from the drought we have been dealing with all year long. The sky opened up and let a gentle rain fall for most of the parade day. That did not keep us from having a great time. We stood proudly out on the parade route with our umbrellas held high. There was a very large crowd that seemed to enjoy the cool wet weather. We had an absolute blast.

A Very Special Person Has Left This World

This morning I awoke to very sad news. A Texas Original...Ms. Ann Richards passed away last night. Ann Richards was one of those public figures that I truly looked up to. She spoke her mind and always could put a smile on a person's face. A big joy for me was getting my picture taken with Ann Richards just a couple of years ago. She was in Dallas speaking for the second time at the Dallas Fort Worth Black Tie Dinner. Texas and this country will miss you Ann. God speed and God Bless.

I have just returned from a trip to New Orleans. My friends and I went on this little trip to celebrate labor day in the most So Not Right way possible. We attended an event called Southern Decadence. I will post a few stories and lots of pictures in the coming days. What a So Not Right time we had at the ranch this weekend. Two of my very best friends, Dan and Rufino, own a beautiful ranch out near Gatesville, TX. They had about 16 of us out to the ranch this past weekend to enjoy a couple of days of pure fun down on the ranch. I wore my kilt out on the ranch and had some pictures taken. Actually there are at least one hundred photos I took during ranch party. I will post those pictures to the "Flikr" link later on this week.
Gary and I had a Bonnet Burning for those huge peep covered Easter bonnets that we made earlier this year. Usually we save the bonnets but these were covered in sugary peeps and could not be kept around. The pictures of the bonnet burning are awesome. For now here are a couple of pictures. One of me on a John Deere Tractor and the other of my peep hat burning.

Well I am not one to be afraid to share anything So Not Right about myself and I have a picture that proves that. This picture was taken by my father while we were on our cruise about the Carnival Conquest. It was taken in front of a fireplace that had an interesting inlay within the mantle. I just saw the movie Strangers With Candy starring Amy Sedaris and it definitely qualifies as a So Not Right Movie. From the first moment of the film I was laughing my ass off. 3 more days until my second big trip of the year. I am about to embark on a 7 day cruise with my family. This will be the first family vacation that includes one of my siblings, nephew and parental figures in many, many years.
There is nothing So Not Right about this trip, at least not yet. I will be gone until the 23rd of this month so there will not be any blogging during that time. I hope everyone has a great week, and think about me laying in a lounge chair doing absolutely nothing.

The Camp Fire Story: Donna Summer and Ghost Stories

I know this is a long post, but it is my favorite memory of my recent camping trip to Tennessee.
One of my best buddies, Jim, and I headed off to Tennessee on the Fourth of July weekend to take a much needed vacation. We had the SUV packed to the hilt with all kinds of camping gear including things you would not have thought would be necessary for camping, the disco ball being one of the luxury items, but in my mind a necessity. We had a great 14 hour drive out to the campgrounds and immediately set up our camp complete with a huge white tent awning. The disco ball was the last item to be placed, making our campsite complete.

As the weekend progressed, Jim and I met some of the most wonderful people at the campgrounds. We were able to share stories with others as well as have drinks and goof off around the pool. It was truly turning into a magical weekend. One of the guys we met, Jamie, ended up moving his tent to just across the way from ours so he could hang out more with us.

On Sunday night, our fourth and final night at the camp, we decided to have a nice campfire next to our tent and make Smores. Jamie and I went to town and picked up the needed supplies including some awesome toasted coconut marshmallows. Jim, Jamie, and I were actually able to get a proper fire started on the first try. That night began with just a small gathering of people we had met over the weekend. A very nice guy named Brian came by the tent site and wondered allowed how we needed a spot light on our disco mirror ball. He then had me run out to his car with him. Low and behold, there in the trunk of his car were more light supplies than Clark Griswald had on Christmas vacation. He pulls out this small battery powered spot flashlight that has a clip on it. Perfect for the disco ball. Once back at the camp site he installs the light and bingo, we have light reflecting in all directions through the top of the tent awning.

I think those lights from the disco ball became a beacon to all the people we had met over the weekend. Over the next half hour or so people started coming by the campfire and asking if they could sit down for a spell and hang out with us. As Jim put it best, it was like a season finale of a TV show where all the special guest from throughout the year make a cameo appearance on the final night, we had all the great people we met that weekend coming by and spending time with us by our camp fire.

Jim put his Donna Summer “best of” CD on the player, the disco ball kept flashing its lights and the evening transformed into something very special.
We heard stories of past camping experiences both at Timberfell and when guys were much younger. We heard stories of funny moments from the current weekend.

We then started telling ghost stories, but not just regular old ghost stories. These were stories of experiences people have had with paranormal beings. There were stories of images of a man in a mirror, spirits that checked on loved ones from beyond and ghosts who were not so friendly to those around. The stories continued and continued until any creak or crack in the woods around us made us wonder if spirits were around us at that time enjoying the warmth of our campfire and the comradery of these fine men..

The fire slowly turned to embers and people made their way back to their camp sites, very much like how we had to leave the campgrounds and go our own separate ways the next day. But the camp fire with Donna Summer and the ghost stories will always provide a bond for those that were there, it was a very special night.

I have just recently returned from my camping trip. Lets just say it was a Most Wonderful Experience. Lots of new friends and lots of new stories. My So Not Right Vacation

Well my first big trip of the year is about to begin. I am going camping, and I do mean camping. Sleeping in a tent, no air-conditioning, and a 14 hour drive to the camp grounds. I am not going crazy, I really want to do this. This whole trip has been the brain-child of my friend Jim. He went to this camp in Greeneville, TN last year for the 4th of July weekend and had a blast. With very little arm twisting he got me all interested in going. I am looking forward to leaving the big city behind and just hanging out at the camp. I have been doing alot of shopping to get ready for this trip. I have a tent, air mattress, cooler, bug spray, cook stove, propane lantern, beer, water, etc...for the trip. We are renting an SUV just to haul all of our stuff across country for this little trip. I will take lots of pictures and I am certain there will be lots of So Not Right things to report once I get back. Here is a look at most of the crap I have to pack in the vehicle.

Be Careful of What You Ask For...

...because you just might get it.
It has been dry here in Dallas, very very dry. No rain since before Easter I think. Everyone is watering their lawns just to keep them from turning brown and ugly. We have all been begging for rain, any amount of rain, just rain, PLEASE.
We got what we asked for this weekend.
While a bunch of us were off enjoying a fantastic pool party this past Saturday night, a huge storm system moved in and gave us a much needed respite from these dry conditions. This was no rain shower, this was pouring down rain that lasted and lasted. (The pool party kept on going) After the pool party a bunch of my friends came back to my house with me to pick up cars etc...
Someone had asked if my dog was ok since he was left out in the monstrous storm we just had. I politely replied that the dog had a wonderful awning tent to keep him dry if he should ever get caught out in the rain. (the awning tent that I speak of is the white tent we use at Easter ( see pictures in Fliker). We checked on the dog as soon as we got to my house only to find that the tent awning looked like it had gone through a hurricane. It was all twisted up and I half expected to see the Wicked Witch of the East's Feet and stocking legs poking out from the rubble. Thankfully the dog was fine even if his shelter was destroyed. I only wonder if he was under the tent when it collapsed, if he has any traumatic tales he wished he could share, or if I should call FEMA and get him a debit card to help with his relief efforts. Price is Right Update

Wow, what an incredible day. We had an awesome day at the Price is Right. We made lots of friends in line and two of our new friends made it to contestants row. Now before I go on I have to say that my sister and I (really more my sister) do alot of research on prices prior to going to any Price is Right taping. My sister has a pretty good handle on most small items on the show and is pretty darn good at figuring out the larger prizes. We made a deal with all our new friends in line that if they got up on stage we would help them from the audience if they needed help. We asked that they include us as their friends and family if by some long shot they win the Showcase at the end so we can go onstage at the end. Well at todays taping we got to put our skills to the test. Philip (picture in post below) made it to the stage and won his prize contest. He didn't win the at the big wheel but we were yelling and hooping it up for him. Now there was also Austin, another new friend who made it on stage and did a great job on his pricing game. He won at the Big Wheel and then he won his Showcase. It was wonderful to see. He let the producers know that we were part of his group and sure enough, my sister and I got to go onstage with his friends and jump up and down on camera as we did the goodbye wave. It was awesome. Thanks Austin for letting us share in this experience with you. It has been a fabulous "So Not Right" experience for us. A picture of Austin is below.

The Price is right

We are here in Los Angeles and my sister and I have spent the night out on Fairfax and Beverly Boulevard waiting to get an arrival number for today's taping of the Price is Right. It is quite a process. The fun is meeting all kinds of fun people from across the country while waiting all night. We got in line at around 2:00am. We were number 14 and 15 in line. At 6am we got our priority numbers. We go back in just a little bit to check in. The taping is at 2:30pm. I have uploaded a few pictures of the line (see below). My New Life Begins

This Monday marks the last day of work for me at my current job. I am about to take a much needed and deserved break from working. I plan to take close to two months off and enjoy the heck out of the summer.
My first So Not Right thing to do will be to fly to Los Angeles with my sister to attend two tapings of the Price is Right. You heard me correctly, I will be working hard to try and be "the next contestestant on the Price is Right". This will be my fifth time to go to see the show. It is an all night and all day affair to get in to the show and sit on the first four rows in the center. We have to sit there so we get good camera time. I know, "So Not Right". This time I hope either my sister or I make to contestants row. I will post the air date of the shows we see.

Memorial Day Holiday

Howdy folks. Memorial day weekend has come and gone. I threw my first So Not Right pool party of the season this past weekend. Rather than just have a pool party I decided we should have the first ever Memorial Day FEMA Ball. Why FEMA you ask? Well it is officially the beginning of hurricane season this week and I thought it would be good to honor FEMA prior to them screwing up this season. I set up the big white tent from Easter in my back yard and hung a disco ball from the center. We had disco music all day. I even wore my "Hurricane Heros" t-shirt that my company gave to us as a thank you for evacuating patients from Houston last year. We were going to float some mannequins in the pool but decided that would be in poor taste. (can you imagine, something of such poor taste that I would not do it). We had a blast at the party. My So Not Right dog (Stoli) decided to entertain at the party and humped the rake and the hose reel. Jeff, one of the Detroit Boys, did take pictures of the party througout the afternoon. As soon as I get pictures from him, I will post here.

Today I said goodbye to my cat Quantum. Quantum and I had been together for 16 years. Quantum came into my life right after I graduated from college and right when I started my first post graduate job. She was about 6 weeks old when I got her. She was my special kitty. Over the last year she had been having lots of medical problems. She was down to skin and bones but still loved to jump in my lap and purr. She passed away very peacefully at the vet's office this morning with me by her side. I am going to miss Quantum.

Wrong place to beg for money

Today I was at the local convience store filling my car with gas. Unleaded at $2.86 a gallon today. I don't usually complain too much about gas prices since I don't use my personal car much during the week. However, when I am filling up the tank I do get a little exasperated at the $35 price tag for the full tank of gas.
While going thru this experience, a guy approached me asking me if I could spare some money for him and his wife so they could get some food. There were a few SO NOT RIGHT things going on at this particular moment. First of all, there was no wife in the area. (this reminds me of the scam where someone asks you for money to put gas in their car, which is several blocks away and they have 5 kids sitting in the heat of the car while they are out panhandling).
My other problem was where the guy was begging for money...I wanted to shout at him "Dude, people are paying a fortune for gas right now, don't ask someone who is being robbed at the pump if they can spare any money."
All I did was point to the gas pump and tell the guy I could not help him. He seemed to understand that approach pretty darn well.
Just for the record, I do give money to some people who ask. I don't have a certain criteria for when and where, I just use my intuition. Sometimes it feels right and sometimes it does not.
It didn't feel right today.

Is My Blog Gay?

Down at the bottom of this page is an internet site meter. It logs information about "hits" to this blog. I can see from what country, state, and city a viewer may be from. It will even tell me from what web site a person clicks on a link that landed them on this site. Every now and again I will check the report and see if anyone besides myself ever looks at my blog. Today I noticed someone from Brazil had viewed my page and ended up on my page by clicking on a link on a blog called www.gayblogs.blogspot.com

Well I had to go to that site and see what is was all about. Sure enough someone has started a blog that links to a BUNCH of websites that this person considers gay. That started me thinking. Is my blog gay? Does my blog have a sexual preference or a sexual identity. Did the author of this other site consult with my blog before "outing" it? Intrestingly enough, two of my friends are also on the gay blog list, Ms. Ghetti http://www.spaghettiandtruthballs.blogspot.com/ (she's not gay but maybe her blog is)
and Jim http://www.saltypretzeltwist.blogspot.com/ (he is gay, but I don't know if his blog is)

Do we need to start a campaign to get blogs to come "out" of the closet and embrace who they are? Just a thought and a question from someone who is So Not Right.

Something a Bit More Serious

As any regular reader of my blog knows, I usually put some lighthearted messages or pictures up on this site. Well today I feel the need to be a bit more personal about myself. I did something that at first seemed So Not Right, but now I am certain I did something Oh So Good.
On Friday I officially resigned from a company that I have spent the last 11 years working for. It was not because I was mad, or frustrated, or because I hated someone there. Those feelings have all been validated at one point or another in my career however this resgination speaks to a much broader sense of what I need and want in my own life. My boss asked me to think about this over a couple of days and be sure that this is really what I want.
I have spent the weekend thinking about this and it is in fact what I want. I am ready to spread my wings a bit as well as take some time off just for myself...take care of myself this time.

For those of you who do not know, I am an Occupational Therapist, have been one for the last 16 years. I work as a Regional Manager for one of the largest Skilled Nursing/Rehab providers in the nation. After some time off I plan on returning to the treatment aspect of my profession, the hands-on working with the patient role. Don't get me wrong, I love the management aspect of my current job, but I need to be the therapist again, not the manager.

I am excited and a bit scared all at the same time. My thirty day notice started last Friday, so May 31st should be my last day. I am certain that my travel during my time off will provide some fun stories for this site. I am looking forward to sharing my adventures with you all as I embark on this new chapter of my life.

I am learning more and more each day how to make Blogging life easier. This really is a fun process. I have added a picture bar to the right of my blog screen. Just click over there to see the public galleries that I have. Right now I am concentrating on getting the Easter pictures up on the site. I have added seven more photos this morning. Hopefully by this weekend I will have the photos that others in our group took and can put their photo sets with mine.

An interesting note about the photos that have been viewed so far...I am able to see how many times photos have been viewed by people other than me. The shirtless men photos at the park have been viewed twice as often as the Easter bonnet pictures. Now I guess I should just say “ Duhhhhhh”, of course that is the case. Well I want to give people what they want, so the pictures that I added today are of shirtless men out at Lee Park enjoying the Easter festivities. Enjoy!

The Detroit Boys are So Not Right

The Detroit Boys, Jeff and Doyle (http://www.wickedwisdom-thelife.blogspot.com/), really out did themselves for Easter in the Park this year. One of their bonnets paid tribute to a group of us who go to brunch on Sundays at Buli here in Dallas, TX. On the bonnet were handmade magnets that represented four of us. I have included pictures with explanations of each.

This one is me...I am holding this years bonnet (Peeps) and there are representations of previous years bonnets below. The tank top on the left represents the shirt that Doyle (one of the Detroit boys) was wearing when I met them. I traded the shirt I was wearing for the one Doyle was wearing.

She is our resident DIVA and loves her sunglasses and jewels.This would be Jim aka Mr. Salty (http://www.saltypretzeltwist.blogspot.com/). The plans just continue to get bigger and bigger for Easter in The Park this year. It looks like a second tent awning in going to be added to our area. I have received calls from more and more people asking if I will be setting up in the same area as I have in years past. It is going to be big this year. The weather is expected to be absolutel gorgeous...90 degrees and sunny.
For your viewing pleasure here is another picture me and my peeps at Easter in the Park from several years ago.
I don't have a year for this one, but I believe this was our second year to do bonnets. That is Gary on the left, me in the middle and our friend Keith on the right. My bonnet actually had battery operated lights in the top of it, confirming once again that I am "SO NOT RIGHT".

Yes it is true, only four more days until Easter. I had planned on posting a bit more this week, but in So Not Right fashion, I have been too busy making Peep Products for Easter.
Here is a picture that shows how the Easter bonnet tradition got started with me and my best friend Gary. These are the very first Easter bonnets we ever made. A humble beginning that has turned into quite an ordeal these days.

Only nine days until Easter and it is a Friday. So what does a single man do on a Friday night nine days before Easter. Well he works on Peep decorations of course. I know, I am So Not Right! Thats right boys and girls, only ten days left before Easter. Things are heating up here in Peepville. I am now working on the decorations for the tent awning that will be used out in the Park on Easter Sunday. It will look fabulous. Jim's (Mr. Salty) hat/bonnet is done and ready for the final fitting. I can harldy wait for the day to come when I can put that damn bonnet on my head and parade around Lee Park. In honor of Easter's impending arrival, here is another classic Easter photo from my family album.

The countdown to Easter continues. I spent this weekend discussing Easter details with all of my Peeps. Things are really coming together nicely. While we slave away on all things Peeps, I thought I would share another vintage Easter picture of me and some of my family.
Easter 1970 I believe. I am on the left, my sister in the middle and my older brother on the right. That cute little puppy dog was named Polly (after Sweet Polly Purebread from the Underdog cartoon). She was an Easter present back in 1968.

April has finally arrived. The official countdown to Easter can begin. 15 more days and counting!!! I guess most of my post for the next two weeks will be about Easter, Easter and more Easter. Today I plan on finishing the bonnet or at least getting the rest of the peeps put on. I will post pics once that is done. The evites have gone out for the Easter in the Park festivities. Easter was always a fun holiday at my house when I was growing up. I remember my mother and dad enjoying watching all five of the kids running around the house looking for the hidden Easter eggs. I remember the beautiful baskets that they would assemble for us, each one individualized for each of the kids. My dad still hosts a huge Easter Egg hunt at his house every Easter. He has it set up so kids and adults can participate. It can become quite the competition. This year he is in a new house with a huge yard. I think he is very excited about having new places to hide the eggs this year. He looks forward to his annual egg hunt the way I look forward to the annual Easter in the Park celebration here in Dallas.

What a busy and fun filled weekend. My very best friend in the whole wide world celebrated his Birthday this past weekend. Happy Birthday Gary...you look great for 29. It all started with a fabulous cocktail party and overflowed to the Dallas Bars. This weekend being Texas Bear Roundup, the bars were packed. After a few hours at the Roundup we checked out another bar that ended up getting shut down by the Fire Marshall...too many people in one place. I think the Marshall was afraid of all that hair on all those men rubbing together and igniting the place.

A special shout-out to Doyle, Jeff and Joe (who will now be known as the Detroit Boys). I hope you all had a most wonderful time while in Dallas. I think we fullfilled your desires to meet all those bloggers you have been following from here. We expect you boys to start your own blog now. We definately hope to see you in April for the Easter festivities.

Speaking of...don't anyone forget...Easter with my Peeps is coming up, Easter Sunday, April 16th. I am working on the bonnet again, will post pictures soon.
